Individuals who perpetrate acts of sexual harassment against others typically prey upon seemingly easy targets. In many cases, victims of sexual harassment at the workplace are young and in a precarious financial situation. Sadly, many victims of sexual harassment are too embarrassed or afraid to come forward and speak out. One 23-year-old single mother recently gathered the courage to come forward and file a sexual harassment lawsuit against her former manager and employer.
From 2009 until June of 2011, the young mother worked as a cashier at a pizza chain restaurant. During this time, the woman claims she was the subject of numerous acts of sexual harassment carried out by the restaurant's manager. Included in the woman's allegations is that the manager offered to pay her for a lap dance and offered her a favorable work schedule in exchange for sex.
Additionally, the young mother claims her former manager would make sexually inappropriate comments about her appearance and continually leer at her. The man also engaged in other highly offensive acts including pulling on the woman's shorts, touching her as he walked by and blocking her exit at times.
These inappropriate and sexually explicit acts caused the woman to suffer tremendous mental anguish and emotional stress. In an attempt to put an end to the manager's behavior, the woman addressed the matter with a member of upper-management. Following this discussion, the woman was stripped of both work hours and employee discounts.
In June of 2011, the woman was fired. She recently filed a lawsuit against her former manager and employer citing she was the victim of sexual harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination.
