Ex-Zales workers accuse their supervisor of sexual harassment

Many women may think that working for a jewelry store would be a dream come true, but that is not always the reality. A group of three women who worked for Texas-based Zales allege that they were the victims of sexual harassment. Each of the women had filed claims individually, but the cases were consolidated and recently moved to federal court.

The women were all employed by Zales in another state. Two of the women began working for the company in 2012; the other began in 2010. All three of the women had the same supervisor who allegedly caused the misconduct.

According to the complaint, their supervisor would stare at them inappropriately and try to touch them. They also claim that he would make sexually inappropriate comments. All of the women purportedly rebuffed the man's advances to no avail. The women believe that Zales did not adequately protect them because the company did not monitor the supervisor so that he would not conduct himself inappropriately around his employees.

The women all accuse Zales of sexual harassment and claim the supervisor's actions were in violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act. Due to the hostile work environment, all of the women felt forced to leave their jobs because they could not tolerate his treatment any longer. The workers are all seeking damages related to compensation and mental distress. Aggrieved Texas workers who feel that they have been placed into uncomfortable situations should immediately report their situations through the company's protocol. If the harassment continues, the victims may choose to move forward with legal claims.
