Women come forward alleging sexual harassment at Dunkin Donuts

One of the top names in donuts and coffee in Texas and elsewhere, Dunkin' Donuts, is appearing in the news with some serious accusations. Several female employees at some of the stores in another state claim that they were subjected to sexual harassment. The case is being heard in a federal court to try to bring justice to the victims.

According to the complaint, the women suffered harassment on a regular basis. The plaintiffs allege that were touched inappropriately and given invitations for sex. Additionally, they claim that they had to listen to remarks that were not appropriate in the workplace.

The primary plaintiff in the case is an 18-year-old woman who claims her manager would try to kiss her, tear her clothing and touch her inappropriately. On one occasion, she alleges that he smacked her across the face. That incident was the final straw, and the plaintiff alerted authorities. The woman apparently lost her job because she had reported the situation to the police.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission places responsibility upon the franchise owner, who apparently allowed the sexual harassment to go on. In this claim, the EEOC is asking the court to have changes made to company policy so that this type of behavior will provide more protection going forward. The EEOC also wants the women to receive financial relief for what they had endured. Texas individuals who are in similar situations may consider reaching out to someone knowledgeable in employment law to help determine the next course of action.
